Wavemaker UK Launches The Splash Apprenticeship Scheme to Boost Diversity

Wavemaker, the WPP Group-owned media, content and tech agency, has reinforced its commitment to developing the next generation of creative talent by sponsoring School of Communications Arts 2.0.

School of Communications Arts (SCA) is one of the country’s most prestigious schools for creative talent entering the industry. Running a revolutionary learning model, students at SCA work on portfolio and live briefs, enter competitions and receive support from industry professionals. Their teacher is the industry itself.

Consistently passionate about investing in creativity, Wavemaker will support this thriving social enterprise, where each year a third of students are on scholarships or living bursaries, by working collaboratively on briefs with SCA, and providing regular mentoring from across the agency to students.

As the only media, content and tech agency sponsor, this partnership opens up a very exciting and unique destination for talent once they graduate, with rotational student placements at Wavemaker starting in September 2018. There is also the possibility of permanent positions within the company’s WM Content division.

Ann Wixley, Executive Creative Director at Wavemaker, a former consultant CD and regular mentor at SCA, said:
“It is in new combinations and connections between diverse disciplines, that future-making work is born. I can’t wait to see Wavemaker and SCA 2.0 talent collaborate and spark off each other this year and develop a new generation, and themselves, in the process.”

Wavemaker’s celebrated creative team will be leading the sponsorship programme, which begins this month.
